This integrative workshop will prepare us for greater freedom and ease in singing and chanting. Just like a well-crafted musical instrument, we can learn to resonate and vibrate in a way that is both expressive and healing. When we use our voices with a balance of effort and ease, or “sthira” and “sukha” as the Yoga Sutra recommends for asana (yoga postures), this increases the power of the vibration. Seth will lead us through asana and other mind/body modalities to create support for the spine and the breath, an integral part of using your voice, and identify and relax places we commonly hold the type of tension that inhibit our optimal resonance and spontaneity of expression. Breathing and vocal exercises will be incorporated to support us in singing in a sustainable and soulful way. Simple sounding and chanting as a group will help us connect our voices together. No prior experience with yoga or singing is necessary. All levels are welcome.
