In this special two hour workshop we will explore the relationship between Yoga, Ayurveda, the Fall season, and yourself. Ayurveda, a 5,000 year old medical system for health and wellness, recognizes Autumn as a time of year when the wind element, or “vata dosha”, has a tendency to become most aggravated. As a result of out- of-balance vata, we often experience an increase in anxiety, worry, restlessness, and other related vata conditions. Fortunately, Ayurveda offers practical ways to reduce the effects of out-of-balance elements in ourselves through food, lifestyle, yoga practice, and other self-care techniques. Working both with Ayurveda and Yoga offers an integrated approach to health, wellness, and spiritual growth.
In this workshop we will discuss the basics of Ayurveda and vata dosha, learn to identify how vata appears in our bodies, minds, and emotions, learn what may remedy imbalances, and do a related group yoga practice tailored to this element. By simply bringing awareness to how vata and the elements appear in our lives, we may come into closer harmony with ourselves and our environment. All levels are welcome. Bring a notebook and dress for movement. No prior experience with Yoga or Ayurveda needed.
